PD Deets and More

Chapel on the 23rd

Devon Scott is teaching us during our chapel time this week Wednesday. He is not available in the afternoon (hopefully you recall this conversation posed long ago?) So we ARE holding chapel this week Wednesday at 8:30. We should be done and ready to carry on with the day by 8:50! We're grateful to learn from Mr. Scott!

PD on 21st

K-5 You will need to bring two things with you Monday…
Unit of study that includes standards, learning targets, a sequence of instruction and assessments (bringing a MAISA Unit might be really easy for this but the choice is totally yours).

2/22/2022

Just a reminder, we have such a spread of ages throughout our building that we decided not to do anything corporately. It certainly is a fun date to celebrate, however! If you can connect timelines, dates, place value, patterns or a tutu to the day, feel free to make it a memorable celebration of God's faithfulness in our lives century after century!

Spring Program

Details are starting to come together. Our Preschool-5th spring program will take place with ALL elementary students at Central Wesleyan. April 21 in the evening will be our program.  We are finalizing details to be shared with you ASAP!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Early Valentine's Day! Good thing we squeaked 100s day in just in time! Rest well and stay safe today, friends. I pray you breathe deep and slowly the love of our Father in Heaven today. We are surrounded in beauty in the natural world. I believe this is again a reminder from our Father that God's mercies are renewed every day. Enjoy the long weekend. I pray each of you are gifted with pockets of unexpected peace and rest today. Happy Valentine's Day! May we radiant the love of God to those we are blessed to serve as the Body of Christ!

TULIP TIME CHOICES

In 2018, Tulip Time reframed their mission statement to read “Mission Statement: To celebrate Holland’s tulips, Dutch heritage and community.” To better align ourselves with their mission statement as well as with the goals here at Holland Christian, our Forest School students will be given two options for dressing up and walking in the 2022 Kinderparade. More details will be forthcoming as we get closer to Tulip Time but we want you to be aware of the options well in advance of the Tulip Time season. Our students have the option of walking in either our new “tulip” section of the parade or our “Dutch heritage” section. The whole of our two groups walking together will be a celebration of our “community.”

  • If your 1st-4th grade student chooses to opt into the “tulip” section of our parade, your child will design and construct his or her own tulip to carry and then dress as a gardener based around our “Rooted” t-shirt. This gardener costume might include gardening boots and gloves, overalls, a wide-brimmed hat, etc. Anything you have handy at home that helps your child look like a busy gardener tilling the tulips will fit the part perfectly!
  • Students who opt into the “Dutch heritage” portion of our student body will wear their own Dutch costume and carry parade props.

Please complete this form to indicate your preference for your child in our Tulip Time parade by Friday, February 25. We will keep you apprised of our parade details as we march toward springtime.

Light Reading

Just a few notes and calendar fun as we look out over the next few weeks and months!

Chapel in February

...has a few changes.

2/9 will be a virtual chapel led by me to be played in classrooms.

2/23 will led by Devon. Our new 2:30 time conflicts with his teaching schedule. Could we please go BACK to our 8:35 time so Devon can lead us in learning/praise & worship?

2/9 is Hundreds Day for anyone who is counting! Nothing required on this day but certainly fun to be grateful for!

Tuesday, 2/22/2022 is another unique day for students who are learning place value, number patterns and God's faithfulness generation after generation after generation after generation.....that's a lot of generations! Nothing required but unique in the lives of these students!

P/T Conferences

....3/28 and 3/30 from 4:00-8:00

Please copy and paste in your blog if you are first through fourth grade (really just Angie and Emily but it's nice for you to see what grades this impacts through our district):
